Video guide: Mounjaro vs Ozempic in the Philippines (2:11)

Mounjaro or Ozempic? Here is how the two pens compare in the Philippines. Mounjaro is tirzepatide. Ozempic is semaglutide. Two different molecules, both prescription only. Semaglutide activates one receptor, GLP-1. Tirzepatide activates two: GIP and GLP-1. SURMOUNT-5, a phase 3b head to head trial, reported 20.2% average weight loss for tirzepatide at 72 weeks, against 13.7% for semaglutide. At Watsons, Ozempic 1 mg was ₱9,280. Mounjaro ran up to ₱29,900 for 15 mg. Both labels say each pen holds 4 doses. That is about ₱2,320 per mg for Ozempic, and about ₱498 for Mounjaro 15 mg. Both are registered with FDA Philippines as prescription medicines. Prescribing belongs with a licensed Philippine physician. Buying outside a pharmacy? Manila Bulletin reported a fake Ozempic pen at around ₱6,000. Check the FDA portal, and match the batch and expiry on carton and pen. Both molecules also come as research vials. These are not the same product. The pens are registered prescription medicines. A research vial is not approved for human use and is sold for research only. Our partner and supplier, Primara Labs, lists 15 mg vials: tirzepatide at ₱1,890, and semaglutide at ₱1,990. Per mg, the tirzepatide vial is about ₱126, or ₱77 in a 10-pack. Semaglutide is about ₱133, or ₱81. Every order includes bacteriostatic water, insulin syringes and alcohol pads, ships same day in Metro Manila before noon, and carries a 60-day money-back guarantee. This page publishes no seizure statistics or incident counts, because none could be sourced. What is sourced: Manila Bulletin reported on 13 June 2026 on a counterfeit Ozempic pen sold at around ₱6,000, and on 14 March 2026 that a doctors' group had [warned the public against compounded, non-FDA-registered versions](https://mb.com.ph/2026/03/14/doctors-group-warns-public-vs-compounded-non-fda-registered-versions-of-ozempic-mounjaro) of Ozempic and Mounjaro. Everything below follows from that.

## Why Counterfeits Exist Here

On 23 September 2026, a real Ozempic 1 mg pen was ₱9,280 at Watsons, the 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg pens were ₱8,187.50, and Wegovy 2.4 mg was ₱12,650. That is a serious outlay for a product most buyers cannot visually authenticate, in a market where stock has been intermittent.

This is why the "too cheap to be true" instinct fails here. Manila Bulletin's reporting of 13 June 2026 describes a buyer persuaded by an offer of around ₱6,000, which the piece notes was about what local drugstores were charging. Against the ₱8,187.50 Watsons listing for the 0.5 mg pen, that is a modest discount, the kind a buyer talks themselves into rather than one that trips an alarm. See the [Manila Bulletin report of 13 June 2026](https://mb.com.ph/2026/06/13/ozempic-soaring-prices-shrinking-stock-of-philippines-most-wanted-injection).

Stockouts do the recruiting. The same Manila Bulletin report described pharmacies limiting Ozempic sales to about two pens per dosage per month, and a buyer who cannot fill a prescription at the counter is the buyer most likely to start scrolling reseller listings. The pricing picture is in the [Ozempic price filing](https://www.philippinespeptides.com/peptides/semaglutide) and the [Mercury Drug stock FAQ](https://www.philippinespeptides.com/faq/mercury-drug-semaglutide).

## The Risky Channels, Ranked

| Channel | Risk Level | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Registered pharmacy counter or its own online store | Baseline safe | Registered retail, prescription required |
| Facebook groups and resellers | High risk | No registration, no cold chain, no recourse; friend-of-a-friend is not provenance |
| Marketplace listings from unidentified sellers | Highest risk | No way to verify the seller, the storage or the pen before payment |

Under RA 9711 a drug must be registered with FDA Philippines before it is imported, sold or distributed; the detail is in the [regulation hub](https://www.philippinespeptides.com/legal). A quote that sits inside the plausible price band proves nothing on its own, which is the whole lesson of the ₱6,000 counterfeit Manila Bulletin reported on 13 June 2026.

## Why Price Barely Helps

The real numbers still matter, because a quote at half of retail is disqualifying and because many buyers work from out-of-date figures. These were read off the pharmacies' own product pages on 23 September 2026.

| Pen | Verified Price (Sep 2026) | Where It Was Listed |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Ozempic 0.25 / 0.5 mg | ₱8,187.50 | Watsons, Rose Pharmacy, Southstar Drug |
| Ozempic 1 mg | ₱9,280 | Watsons, Rose Pharmacy, Southstar Drug |
| Wegovy 2.4 mg | ₱12,650 | Watsons |
| Mounjaro KwikPen 5 mg | ₱13,550 | Watsons (Rose Pharmacy lists ₱13,600) |

Now the part that matters. The counterfeit Manila Bulletin reported on 13 June 2026 was priced just under retail, not far under it, so a quote that looks reasonable proves little. Price screens out the lazy fakes and nothing else. The channel, the FDA registration lookup, and the physical carton checks below are what actually do the work.

## Checking a Pen in Hand

**Registration check.** FDA Philippines runs a public verification portal at verification.fda.gov.ph where registered products can be looked up. A prescription medicine that cannot be matched there should not be used.

**Carton and pen agreement.** Batch or lot number and expiry date should appear on both the carton and the pen itself, and they should match. Mismatched, missing, smudged, or obviously reprinted numbering is a walk-away sign. So is a carton without a leaflet, or packaging with typographical sloppiness a pharmaceutical line would not ship.

**Cold-chain plausibility.** These pens require refrigerated storage before first use. A pen that arrives in an uninsulated courier bag has broken cold chain even if the pen itself is genuine, and there is no way to know how it was stored in the weeks before. This is a risk an unidentified seller cannot solve even when the product is real.

**Prescription friction is a feature.** The legitimate channel asks for a prescription; the counterfeit channel advertises that it does not. A seller marketing the absence of that step is announcing which channel it belongs to.

## The Safe Route, Spelled Out

The dependable pattern is a prescription from a licensed Philippine physician, filled at a registered pharmacy. On 23 September 2026, the chains that published Ozempic prices online were Watsons, Southstar Drug, Rose Pharmacy and MedsGo; Mercury Drug publishes no medicine prices online. The channel-by-channel Wegovy pricing is in the [Wegovy price filing](https://www.philippinespeptides.com/guides/wegovy-price-philippines).

Note

If this filing has one sentence worth keeping, it is this: in the Philippines, the counterfeit problem is a channel problem, not a detection problem. A pen bought inside the registered channel rarely raises the fake-pen question at all.

A research-grade semaglutide vial is not a registered medicine and not a substitute for the prescribed pen; the molecule is covered in the [semaglutide guide](https://www.philippinespeptides.com/peptides/semaglutide).

Caution

Nothing in this filing is medical advice. Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro are prescription medications; prescribing belongs with a licensed Philippine physician.

## FAQ

### Is there fake Ozempic in the Philippines?

Yes. Manila Bulletin reported on 13 June 2026 on a buyer in the Philippines who was sold a counterfeit Ozempic pen offered at around ₱6,000. On 14 March 2026, Manila Bulletin reported that a doctors’ group had warned the public against compounded, non-FDA-registered versions of Ozempic and Mounjaro. This page publishes no incident counts, because none could be sourced. A GLP-1 pen bought anywhere other than a registered pharmacy should be treated as unverified.

### How can a buyer tell if Ozempic is fake?

Start with the channel, not the price. A pen from an unidentified marketplace seller or a reseller is unverified by default, and price is a weak test: Manila Bulletin reported on 13 June 2026 on a buyer persuaded precisely because the counterfeit was offered at around ₱6,000, close to what local drugstores were charging. On 23 September 2026, Watsons listed the Ozempic 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg pens at ₱8,187.50 and the 1 mg pen at ₱9,280. Then check the physical product: carton and pen should match on batch or lot number and expiry date, and the product should be registered on the FDA Philippines verification portal at verification.fda.gov.ph.

### Is Ozempic on Lazada or Shopee real?

It depends on who the seller is. A marketplace listing can come from a registered pharmacy’s own store: on 23 September 2026, MedsGo’s store on Lazada listed the Ozempic 0.5 mg pen at ₱8,950.45. A listing from an unidentified reseller offers no way to verify cold-chain handling, storage or authenticity before payment. Ozempic is a prescription medicine, and a seller that does not ask for a prescription is not operating as a registered pharmacy.

### How much does real Ozempic cost in the Philippines?

On 23 September 2026, the pharmacies’ own pages listed the Ozempic 0.25 mg and 0.5 mg pens at ₱8,187.50 at Watsons, Southstar Drug and Rose Pharmacy, and the 1 mg pen at ₱9,280. MedsGo listed the 0.5 mg pen at ₱7,599. Manila Bulletin reported on 13 June 2026 that a counterfeit pen had been offered at around ₱6,000, below retail but not obviously so, which is why buyers fall for them.

### Where is the safest place to buy Ozempic in the Philippines?

A registered pharmacy, with a prescription from a licensed Philippine physician. On 23 September 2026, Watsons, Southstar Drug and Rose Pharmacy listed Ozempic with peso prices on their own sites. Mercury Drug publishes no medicine prices online, so its branches have to be asked directly.
