BPC-157 availability in the Philippines

BPC-157 is sold in the Philippines as a research-grade peptide. FDA Philippines: No registered drug product found on the FDA verification portal.

## What is BPC-157

BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound 157) is a synthetic 15-amino-acid peptide derived from a protein found in human gastric juice (Sikiric 2016 review). It is covered in the [peptide library](https://www.philippinespeptides.com/peptides) alongside related compounds.

Most BPC-157 research is in rats. In a rat model of Achilles tendon detachment (Krivic 2006), BPC-157 improved measures of tendon healing. In people, the strongest evidence recorded in the evidence dataset is small human studies. Three small uncontrolled human reports only: a 2-person intravenous safety pilot, a 12-patient interstitial cystitis pilot and a 16-patient retrospective knee-pain survey. No completed human randomised trial and no registered trial with results were found.

## How it works

BPC-157 is a synthetic 15-amino-acid peptide. A 2025 systematic review summarises animal and cell studies as showing raised growth hormone receptor expression, activation of pathways for cell growth and new blood vessel formation, and lower inflammatory signalling. No receptor has been identified, and the same review notes it is broken down quickly in the liver. None of these mechanisms has been shown in people.

Tendon cells: in a rat tendon cell study (Chang 2011), BPC-157 was associated with tendon outgrowth, cell survival and cell migration.

Gut: a 2016 review (Sikiric et al.) describes protective effects on the gastrointestinal tract in animal models. These are animal findings.

## Benefits studied

- Interstitial cystitis symptoms: Small human studies A small uncontrolled pilot in 12 women with interstitial cystitis reported complete symptom resolution in 10, with no placebo or comparison group, so the result cannot separate the peptide from other causes. [Source: PubMed 39325560](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/39325560/)

- Knee pain: Small human studies A retrospective phone survey of 16 clinic patients found 14 reporting knee pain relief; it had no control group and no validated outcome measure. [Source: PubMed 34324435](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34324435/)

- Tendon repair: Animal and cell In an animal study, rats with a cut Achilles tendon given BPC-157 showed better mechanical, functional and microscopic healing than rats given saline. No human trial has tested this. [Source: J Orthop Res 2003](https://doi.org/10.1016/s0736-0266(03)00110-4)

- Ligament repair: Animal and cell In an animal study, rats with a surgically cut knee ligament healed better on functional, mechanical and tissue measures over 90 days with BPC-157. This is animal evidence only. [Source: J Orthop Res 2010](https://doi.org/10.1002/jor.21107)

## Side effects reported

No human trial in the datasets reports adverse-event rates for BPC-157, whose human evidence is limited to small human studies with no completed randomised trial identified. Without controlled data, its safety in people is unknown rather than established.

## BPC-157 in the Philippines

A search of the FDA Verification Portal on 23 September 2026 returned no registered drug product for BPC-157. That matters because of the rule every health product sold here sits under: Section 11(a) of RA 3720 as amended by RA 9711 prohibits the manufacture, importation, sale, distribution, promotion or advertising of any health product that is unregistered, adulterated or misbranded. With no registered product, there is nothing for a Philippine pharmacy to dispense, and BPC-157 is sold here as a research-grade vial rather than a finished medicine.

Primara Labs, our partner and supplier, lists BPC-157 as "Lyophilized powder, 20 mg / vial", and it is also one of the components of the store's [GLOW Blend](https://www.philippinespeptides.com/peptides/glow-blend) and [KLOW Blend](https://www.philippinespeptides.com/peptides/klow-blend). The legal research behind this site found no Philippine FDA, DOH, BOC or DDB document that addresses products labelled research use only. The [BPC-157 buying guide](https://www.philippinespeptides.com/guides/bpc-157-philippines) covers storage and courier handling in Philippine heat.

On enforcement, the legal research behind this site's [regulation hub](https://www.philippinespeptides.com/legal) searched FDA Philippines posts for a safety advisory naming BPC-157 and found none. That search covered post text, not attached PDFs.

For research context, the distance between how often BPC-157 is talked about in Manila and what has been measured in people is wide. The evidence dataset counts 0 completed randomised human trials, the human record is limited to small uncontrolled reports, and the tendon and gut findings above come from rats. The most recent synthesis the dataset cites is Vasireddi N et al. HSS J 2025 (systematic review).

## Regulatory status

**FDA Philippines**

- No registered drug product found on the FDA verification portal.

**US FDA**

- No record found Drugs@FDA returned no approved or tentatively approved application for this substance. Drugs@FDA does not list investigational products. Separately, the FDA lists it on its page of bulk drug substances for compounding that may present significant safety risks (current as of 22 April 2026); that page concerns compounding, not approval.

**European Medicines Agency**

- No record found No row for this substance in the EMA medicines report generated 22 September 2026. That report does not cover national authorisations in EU member states.

**Next milestone**

- No sponsor identified in any record read.

## Who should not use BPC-157

Do not use if

- Active cancer or history of cancer (theoretical growth promotion concern)

- Pregnancy or breastfeeding (insufficient safety data)

- Anticoagulant therapy (possible interaction with clotting pathways, theoretical)

## FAQ

### Can you buy BPC-157 at a Philippine pharmacy?

No. A search of the FDA Verification Portal on 23 September 2026 returned no registered drug product for BPC-157. Section 11(a) of RA 3720 as amended by RA 9711 prohibits the manufacture, importation, sale, distribution, promotion or advertising of any health product that is unregistered, adulterated or misbranded. What circulates in the Philippines is the research-grade vial, which is not a medicine. This is general information, not legal advice.

### Has FDA Philippines issued a warning about BPC-157?

Not that this site has found. FDA Philippines post searches for advisories naming BPC-157 returned no safety advisory in the legal research behind the regulation hub, checked 23 September 2026. The search covered post text only, not attached PDFs, so a warning inside a PDF would not have been found.

### Can BPC-157 be brought into the Philippines from abroad?

BPC-157 has no registered drug product in the Philippines, so the question is one the rules leave open. DOH-FDA-BOC Joint Circular No. 1, dated 22 June 2015, lets travellers bring listed FDA-regulated products into the Philippines without prior FDA clearance if the products are for personal use and within set limits. For prescription drugs, Joint Circular No. 1 sets the allowed quantity as the amount stated on a prescription that carries the physician's PRC licence number or a foreign equivalent. Joint Circular No. 1 does not say whether its prescription-drug allowance covers drugs without a Philippine CPR. No FDA circular that answers this was found. The Bureau of Customs lists pharmaceutical products as regulated imports that require a valid Certificate of Product Registration and/or an FDA License to Operate as importer. This is general information, not legal advice.

### What evidence exists for BPC-157?

The strongest human evidence for BPC-157 in the evidence dataset is small human studies, with 0 completed human randomised controlled trials identified. Three small uncontrolled human reports only: a 2-person intravenous safety pilot, a 12-patient interstitial cystitis pilot and a 16-patient retrospective knee-pain survey. No completed human randomised trial and no registered trial with results were found.

### What has BPC-157 been studied for?

Tendon, ligament and muscle healing and gastrointestinal injury in rats; interstitial cystitis and knee pain in small uncontrolled human reports. Each finding appears under Benefits studied on this page with its evidence level.
