## What is KPV

KPV is a tripeptide (lysine-proline-valine) made up of the last three amino acids of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (alpha-MSH). Browse the full [peptide library](https://www.philippinespeptides.com/peptides) for related compounds.

All of the evidence for KPV comes from animal and cell work: mouse, rat and cell-culture studies of colitis, colitis-associated tumours, peritoneal inflammation and oral mucositis, plus one test-tube study on blood samples from people with HIV. No human administration study and no registered trial has been identified.

In mice with chemically induced colitis, KPV reduced colitis and inflammatory cytokine expression (Dalmasso et al., 2008). In two mouse colitis models, KPV-treated mice recovered earlier and regained more body weight, with less inflammatory infiltrate (Kannengiesser et al., 2008).

## How it works

PepT1 uptake: in cell studies, KPV enters intestinal and immune cells through the peptide transporter PepT1.

Inflammatory signalling: in cell studies, KPV dampens NF-kB and MAP kinase inflammatory signalling.

Melanocortin receptors: although KPV is derived from alpha-MSH, a mouse study found its anti-inflammatory effect is unlikely to act through melanocortin receptors.

## KPV in the Philippines

A search of the FDA Philippines registered drug products database on 7 May 2026, listed in the sources below, found no Philippine drug registration for KPV. A repeat search on 23 September 2026 could not be completed because the verification portal timed out, so the regulatory section on this page shows its current Philippine status as not established.

## Benefits studied

- Colitis: Animal and cell In an animal study, mice with chemically induced colitis given KPV had less colitis and lower inflammatory cytokine expression. KPV has not been tested in people. [Source: Gastroenterology 2008](https://doi.org/10.1053/j.gastro.2007.10.026)

- Recovery from colitis: Animal and cell In two mouse models of colitis, KPV-treated animals recovered sooner, regained more weight and showed less inflammatory infiltrate. This is animal evidence only. [Source: Inflamm Bowel Dis 2008](https://doi.org/10.1002/ibd.20334)

- Colitis-associated tumours: Animal and cell In mice with colitis-associated cancer, KPV prevented tumours from forming, with no effect in mice lacking the PepT1 transporter. This is animal evidence only. [Source: Cell Mol Gastroenterol Hepatol 2016](https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jcmgh.2016.01.006)

- Oral mucositis: Animal and cell In an animal study of chemotherapy-induced mouth ulcers in rats, KPV in an adhesive gel improved food intake and weight recovery. [Source: Biomater Sci 2022](https://doi.org/10.1039/d1bm01466h)

## Side effects reported

No human trial in the datasets reports adverse-event rates for KPV, which has been studied in animals and cells only. Without controlled data, its safety in people is unknown rather than established.

## KPV in the Philippines

KPV is one of the few research peptides that FDA Philippines has named directly. The FDA warned the public against buying or using an unregistered KPV 10 mg/1 ml multi-use injectable vial sold with bacteriostatic water, which has no Certificate of Product Registration (FDA Advisory No. 2026-1013, 4 September 2026). The advisory is about one named product: a multi-use injectable vial sold with bacteriostatic water.

This site has not published an FDA Philippines registration result for KPV: the 23 September 2026 portal search behind the regulation hub did not include the name, and the store's own search the same day timed out.

Primara Labs, our partner and supplier, lists KPV as a component of [KLOW Blend](https://www.philippinespeptides.com/peptides/klow-blend): "Lyophilized powder, KPV 10 mg + GHK-Cu 50 mg + BPC-157 10 mg + TB-500 10 mg / vial". Primara Labs lists their current vials on the catalogue; prices and stock change, so check there for what is available now. The full advisory list is on the [advisories page](https://www.philippinespeptides.com/legal/advisories).

For research context, the evidence dataset found no published study that gave KPV to people. Its rating for KPV is animal and cell: mouse, rat and cell-culture work on colitis, peritonitis and oral mucositis, plus one test-tube study on blood samples from people with HIV, with no human administration study and no registered trial.

## Regulatory status

**FDA Philippines**

- No registration found; FDA Advisory No. 2026-1013 warns against an unregistered KPV product.

**US FDA**

- No record found Drugs@FDA returned no approved or tentatively approved application for this substance. Drugs@FDA does not list investigational products. Separately, the FDA lists it on its page of bulk drug substances for compounding that may present significant safety risks (current as of 22 April 2026); that page concerns compounding, not approval.

**European Medicines Agency**

- No record found No row for this substance in the EMA medicines report generated 22 September 2026. That report does not cover national authorisations in EU member states.

**Next milestone**

- No sponsor identified in any record read.

## FAQ

### What did FDA Philippines say about KPV?

FDA Advisory No. 2026-1013, 4 September 2026: The FDA warned the public against buying or using an unregistered KPV 10 mg/1 ml multi-use injectable vial sold with bacteriostatic water, which has no Certificate of Product Registration. The regulation hub lists the advisory with its source.

### Where does KPV appear in Primara Labs listings?

Primara Labs, our partner and supplier, lists KPV as a component of KLOW Blend: "Lyophilized powder, KPV 10 mg + GHK-Cu 50 mg + BPC-157 10 mg + TB-500 10 mg / vial". Its catalogue carries the current list, and prices and stock change.

### Can KPV be brought into the Philippines from abroad?

FDA Philippines has warned against at least one unregistered KPV product. DOH-FDA-BOC Joint Circular No. 1, dated 22 June 2015, lets travellers bring listed FDA-regulated products into the Philippines without prior FDA clearance if the products are for personal use and within set limits. For prescription drugs, Joint Circular No. 1 sets the allowed quantity as the amount stated on a prescription that carries the physician's PRC licence number or a foreign equivalent. Joint Circular No. 1 does not say whether its prescription-drug allowance covers drugs without a Philippine CPR. No FDA circular that answers this was found. The Bureau of Customs lists pharmaceutical products as regulated imports that require a valid Certificate of Product Registration and/or an FDA License to Operate as importer. This is general information, not legal advice.

### What evidence exists for KPV?

The evidence for KPV is rated animal and cell. No completed human randomised trial was identified in Europe PMC or ClinicalTrials.gov. The studies are in mice, rats and cell culture (colitis, peritonitis, oral mucositis), plus one test-tube study on blood samples from people with HIV.

### Has KPV been tested in people with inflammatory bowel disease?

No. No human administration study of KPV and no registered trial has been identified. Its colitis findings come from mice: in mice with chemically induced colitis, KPV reduced colitis and inflammatory cytokine expression.

### Does KPV act on melanocortin receptors?

Unlikely, based on a mouse study. KPV is the last three amino acids of alpha-MSH, but a mouse study found its anti-inflammatory effect is unlikely to act through melanocortin receptors. In cell studies it enters cells through the PepT1 transporter and dampens NF-kB and MAP kinase inflammatory signalling.

This page is editorial information for adults researching peptide therapy. It is not medical advice, not a prescription, and not an endorsement of any specific product, supplier, or protocol. Side effects can be serious and individual response varies. Talk to a licensed physician (ideally one with peptide-specific clinical experience) before starting any compound, adjusting a dose, or discontinuing therapy.

In the Philippines, GLP-1 medications are prescription-only under FDA Philippines regulation. Research-grade peptides occupy a regulatory gray area: import for personal research use is generally tolerated, but the Bureau of Customs reserves the right to inspect and detain shipments. Do not import for resale.
