SNAP-8 is not yet in the evidence datasets this site draws on, so this page makes no claim about what it does.

## What is SNAP-8

SNAP-8 (Acetyl Octapeptide-3) is an octapeptide (8 amino acid chain) designed to mimic the N-terminal end of the SNAP-25 protein. SNAP-25 is one of the proteins involved in neurotransmitter release at the neuromuscular junction, the connection between nerve endings and muscle fibers, as set out in the 2013 Neuron review cited below. Browse the full [peptide library](https://www.philippinespeptides.com/peptides) for related skin compounds.

The manufacturer's technical datasheet describes SNAP-8 as a botulinum-mimetic peptide and a competitive inhibitor of SNAP-25, and a 2012 review of cosmetic botulinum-mimetic peptides covers it alongside acetyl hexapeptide-3. That evidence is cosmetic and in vitro; no phase 2 or phase 3 human trial is cited on this page, and SNAP-8 is not in the evidence datasets this site draws on.

SNAP-8 is sold as an ingredient in topical serums and creams, not as an injectable. [GHK-Cu](https://www.philippinespeptides.com/peptides/ghk-cu) is a separate peptide with its own guide.

## How it works

SNAP-25 competition: in the manufacturer's in vitro data, SNAP-8 competes with the body's own SNAP-25 protein for a place in the SNARE complex, the protein assembly that fuses vesicles with the nerve membrane before acetylcholine is released (SNARE mechanism per the 2013 Neuron review).

Proposed effect on wrinkles: the manufacturer and the 2012 review describe reduced contraction force in facial expression muscles as the proposed route to softer expression wrinkles. That route rests on cosmetic and in vitro studies, not on a controlled clinical trial.

## Benefits studied

SNAP-8 is not yet in the evidence datasets this site draws on, so this page makes no claim about what it does. Anything published about it elsewhere should be read with its evidence level in mind: most peptides in this category have animal or cell data only.

## Side effects reported

No controlled human data on adverse events for SNAP-8 is in the datasets this site draws on, so its safety in people is unknown rather than established. Effects commonly described for it are listed below; how often they occur has not been measured in a controlled trial.

- Mild skin irritation

- Temporary redness in sensitive skin

- Contact dermatitis

- Irritation when layered with other active topicals such as retinol or AHAs (theoretical)

## Regulatory status

The regulatory dataset this site draws on has no row for SNAP-8.

## Who should not use SNAP-8

Do not use if

- Known allergy to peptide formulations

- Active skin infection or open wounds at the application site

- Irritated or damaged skin at the application site

- Application in or near the eyes

Everything above is research framing. ## FAQ

### How does SNAP-8 differ from botulinum toxin?

SNAP-8 is described in its sources as a botulinum-mimetic peptide: it is applied to the skin and is proposed, on manufacturer and in vitro data, to act on the same SNAP-25 step of nerve signalling that botulinum toxin acts on, by competing with SNAP-25. No trial comparing SNAP-8 with botulinum toxin is cited on this page.

### Is SNAP-8 the same as Argireline?

### What evidence exists for SNAP-8?

SNAP-8 is not in the evidence datasets this site draws on. The sources on this page are a manufacturer technical datasheet (Lipotec), a 2012 review of botulinum-mimetic cosmetic peptides in Clinical, Cosmetic and Investigational Dermatology, and a 2013 Neuron review of the neurotransmitter-release mechanism. The evidence type is cosmetic and in vitro; no phase 2 or phase 3 human trial is cited.

### Sourcing peptides in the Philippines

Primara Labs, our partner and supplier, ships from inventory already inside the Philippines, so there is no customs leg: vials are batch-numbered, Metro Manila orders dispatch same day, the rest of the country lands in 1 to 5 business days, and the store lists 10% off every order. The current list sits on one page, and anything you cannot see on it goes through the same WhatsApp thread.

The supply index covers what to ask a seller before paying, and why quoted prices vary so widely.
