MOTS-c Quezon City: Cost vs Evidence

Quezon City is the largest city in the metro by land area and it contains at least four different buyers, which makes most district generalisations useless here. But on MOTS-c specifically the picture is unusually consistent, because the compound self-selects for one kind of person and Quezon City has more of them than anywhere else in the country.

The university belt around Diliman and Katipunan and the medical community spread across the city produce readers who are comfortable with primary literature and not remotely comfortable with marketing copy. Reynolds 2021 in Nature Communications characterises MOTS-c as an exercise-induced mitochondrial-encoded regulator of age-dependent physical decline and muscle homeostasis, again in mice.

That is the substantive record. It is mechanistically rich and it is entirely preclinical. No human efficacy data supports any metabolic, body-composition or physical-capacity outcome in people. Human work on MOTS-c is at an early stage and has not produced efficacy readouts, which means that every claim you will encounter attaching a human number to this compound has been manufactured somewhere between the mouse and the marketplace.

Diliman readers ask this one more than anyone else and it deserves a direct answer. The figure that circulates for MOTS-c is 5mg subcutaneous, three to five times weekly, often run as an eight-week block or eight weeks on and four off.

That figure does not come from a published human dose-ranging trial. It is community and supplier convention. There is no phase-graded human dose escalation behind it comparable to what exists for the GLP-class compounds, where you can point at a specific trial arm and a specific milligram number.
