Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro in the Philippines for Foreigners

The FDA Philippines runs a public Verification Portal. Searching it for the generic names on 11 September 2026 returned the following certificate-of-product-registration (CPR) records. Registration numbers are quoted as displayed.

Both searches returned two pages of records; the numbers above are from the first page of each. Rybelsus, the oral semaglutide tablet, also appears (BR-1411 to BR-1413). Registration means the product may be sold through licensed channels in the Philippines; it says nothing about whether any given branch has it on the shelf, which is a separate problem covered in the Mounjaro filing and the semaglutide stock FAQ.

Republic Act 10918, the Philippine Pharmacy Act of 2016, is the statute that governs dispensing. Three provisions matter to a buyer:

• Section 30.Prescription drugs and pharmacist-only OTC medicines "shall be dispensed only by a duly registered and licensed pharmacist", with an exception only for emergencies where none is available.
• Section 33.Prescription medicines "may be dispensed only by a duly registered and licensed pharmacist and only with a valid prescription of a physician, dentist, or veterinarian."
• Section 45(e). Dispensing prescription products by a person other than one under the direct and immediate supervision of a licensed pharmacist is penalised with a fine of two hundred fifty thousand to five hundred thousand pesos, imprisonment of one to six years, or both.

Republic Act 6675, the Generics Act, adds that prescriptions are written using the generic name, with the brand name optional (Section 6(b)). In practice the chains apply these rules at checkout. The Watsons product page for every one of these pens carries the same reminder: a doctor's prescription is required, a copy is to be emailed with the order number after checkout, and a pharmacist will get in touch to validate it before the item is released. The GLP-1 lines are click-and-collect rather than delivered.

This is the question every visitor asks and the one the primary sources do not settle. Section 33 of the Pharmacy Act requires "a valid prescription of a physician, dentist, or veterinarian" and does not define what makes one valid, or say whether the prescriber must hold a Philippine licence. The Generics Act is equally silent. No FDA issuance opened for this filing addresses a prescription written abroad.

What is observable is how the pharmacies behave. Each chain validates the prescription through its own pharmacist, and that pharmacist is the person who decides whether the document in front of them meets the standard. A prescription in English, with the generic name, the strength, the prescriber's name and licence details and a date, gives that pharmacist the most to work with. Whether it is accepted is their call.

The practical rule:ask the pharmacy before you go, with the prescription in hand, by phone or through the chain's online pharmacy email. If the answer is no, the physician route in the next section is the answer, and it is not a long detour.

A prescription from a physician licensed in the Philippines is the document every pharmacy here recognises. Two ways to get in front of one:

• A hospital endocrinology consultation. The major Metro Manila hospitals book endocrinology within days, and their in-house pharmacies fill the prescription the same day when stock allows. The Wegovy price filing walks through that route.
• A licensed telehealth service. Several Philippine operators run GLP-1 programmes with a named prescriber, a consultation and delivery. Confirm with the service that it will see a non-resident patient; that is a question for the operator, not one this filing can answer.

Either way the decision to prescribe, the choice of medicine and the dose are the physician's. What this page can tell you is what the pen will cost once you have the script.

The Ozempic listing at Watsons read higher on 11 September than the verified figures below, and the notes say so; treat Ozempic as moving until the table is re-verified across chains.
